• Notepad and Pen: Record every measurement immediately to avoid confusion.
• Step Ladder: For safe and easy access to the top of tall window frames.

Step 1: Measuring for Curtains

Curtains require careful consideration of both the width and the drop (length) to ensure they gather and drape beautifully.

• Measuring the Width: Measure the width of your curtain track or pole, not the window itself. If you have not installed the hardware yet, measure the window opening and add 15 to 20 cm to each side. This allows the curtains to stack back cleanly when open without blocking the light.
• Measuring the Drop: Measure from the top of the track (or the bottom of the pole rings) down to your desired endpoint. You can choose sill length, below sill, or floor length. For a luxurious, modern look, let the fabric gently touch the ground by measuring exactly to the floor.

Step 2: Measuring for Blinds

Blinds can be installed inside the window recess (inside mount) for a flush look, or on the wall above the window (outside mount) to make the window appear larger.

• Inside Mount: Measure the exact inside width of the window frame at the top, middle, and bottom. Record the smallest width measurement to ensure the blind mechanism fits inside. Then, measure the height and use the longest drop.
• Outside Mount: Measure the outside width and height of the window frame. Add at least 5 to 10 cm to all sides (top, bottom, left, and right) to minimize light leakage and ensure full coverage.
